Senior Vice President of Lenovo’s product group Peter Hortensius revealed Yoga 11 is aimed at mobile users, the consumers Windows 8’s Modern UI targets. The hybrid form factor is perhaps unique to Windows 8, and the platform that can make it successful. In theory users can switch between desktop and Modern UI mode to use the laptop and tablet form factors, respectively.Hortensius also confirmed a hinge stops the screens from separating, though the feature means Lenovo can build a device more akin to a laptop. Devices have been announced that can be separated. The downside is users will inevitable prefer one form of the product, perhaps not value for money, and defeating the point of building a hybrid device.
Windows 8 launches October 26 worldwide.
